some say fdr and martin luther king or churchill should be credited for making the world a better place.. some think al gore's enviromental crusades make him a leader.
some love obama for trying to set the world into a more positive direction.. who would you say made a truly meaningful positive impression on you?.

...I beg to differ. The title of this thread asks for positive influence. If people have been influenced to do negative things because of someone, than that counts against their 'positiveness'. Also, the spread of Christianity should fall largely on Paul's shoulders, thereby diminishing Jesus' influence substantially. I suppose many Christians on this site would argue that Jesus guided the work, but even if we agree to this, he did so from heaven, and thus I think should be excluded from a question that is discussing humans only.
(Because, I mean, if we're not talking humans, then I vote for the first self-replicating molecule as the most positive influential person.)

god stops the earths rotation {which should cause it to drift from the sun or crash into the moon} and holds it for joshua.
I reconciled this by assuming that God simply made the sun look as if it was motionless. Basically, by using mirrors.

at the beginning, the speaker says that if you do record the convention, you are not to use it for general distribution.. why not?.
if the assembly is a public event why not get it around as much as possible?.

I found it interesting because it encourages JWs to preach to their worldly relatives. And while they've probably always felt some pressure to do this, in practice I've observed that most JWs keep their religion to themselves when around non-Witness family members. I wonder if this will push them to start bringing the topic up again?
Especially if you have never been a JW, but have JW relatives, listen to this talk. It might give you some ideas on how to get them wake up. At the very least, it will prepare you for what may be coming.

i was reading the thread about hoboken's jc meeting and started thinking about the rule prohibiting recording devices in such meetings.
has anyone on the board tried to challenge this rule?.
on its face, the rule is absurd.
In my situation, I stopped the elders before it escalated to a judicial meeting. But I did record the phone conversations I had with the local elder.
I also explained in a letter that I refused to meet with them unless I was able to record the meetings.
